Here’s a great way to earn extra money for bands, schools, clubs and churches. Consider how this song, Loving Memory, came about, and how it will sell to interested parties as a poster, a post card, a framed print, a mural or wallpaper, etc.!
This song was written right after Mother Teresa passed on. As a minister, I was greatly saddened and outraged by the poor media coverage about her passing on. There wasn’t much said about her in the news at all. Now, when Princess Diana passed on, it was something else altogether. It was all we heard about for more than a year! It is sad that she died, and it is sad that she was hounded by the news media so much that it hastened a premature end to her life.
Elton John dedicated a song to Princess Diana, so I set out to write a song about Mother Teresa. This is how it came about: Later in the week that Mother Teresa passed away, I had a dream that Mother Teresa’s sisters came to me and asked me, “What’s that in your hand?” Before I could answer, they asked me if I had a hammer. I answered and said, “Yes, my kids gave me a tool set for Father’s Day, and that kit came with a hammer. “ It was in the trunk of my Cadillac at the time. I ran to get the hammer. Then they said, “Let your hammer ring.” There was a song sung in the ‘60s called “If I Had a Hammer” – it went something like this – “If I had a hammer, I’d hammer out a warning, I’d hammer out danger, I’d hammer out love, all over this world.” Mother Teresa’s sisters were telling us to emulate this song! Mother Teresa meant a lot to me. It would be very difficult for anybody to fill her shoes.
This song is my attempt to “Let my hammer ring.” It is about bits and pieces of Mother Teresa’s life; those that stood out to me. It was easy to write because I had so much to choose from her life. In 2008, I discovered if I took the same song, and changed it from female (Mother Teresa) to male (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.) I could say almost the exact same things about him as I did about Mother Teresa! And I can go even further! I could say these same things about my own mother and father!” You see, they were both soldiers in God’s army. Even you may know of someone whose life is like those in this song!
I would like to offer you a chance to own a copy of this song written out in poem format of Mother Teresa, or Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., or anyone else whom you feel should be so honored by this song! You can special order a copy of this song to be written for any name you desire for just a small extra fee.
